Im tiefen Winter findet der Jäger S. im abgelegensten Waldstrich des Landes die Mumie eines etwa 40-jährigen Mannes. Aufgrund der minuziösen Aufzeichnung des Toten stellt sich heraus, dass der Mann im vorhergegangenen Sommer Selbstmord durch Verhungern begangen hatte. Eine sehr persönliche Annäherung an einen fiktionalen Text, welcher wiederum auf einer wahren Begebenheit beruht. Ein filmisches Manifest für das Leben – herausgefordert durch den radikalen Verzicht darauf.
Nach der Novelle "miira ni narumade" von Shimada Masahiko – auf Grund einer wahren Geschichte.
